“For a seed to achieve its greatest expression, it must come completely undone. The shell cracks, its insides come out and everything changes. To someone who doesn't understand growth, it would look like complete destruction.” - Cynthia Occelli
2020 was the most transformational single year of any of our lives. Parts of our souls that lay untapped, found room to breathe, at the same time that we became physically and emotionally trapped. Parts of our facades began to crumble. Our bonds with our communities were both shattered and strengthened. Our resilience was tested again and again.
My family and I experienced personal hardships the likes of which we’ve never seen. But because I refused to neglect our one great gift of life, Sasha and I did as we do, turned to the forest of Brooklyn for solace, and became seedpod scavengers throughout the autumn of 2020 and into the winter of 2021. Our discoveries became this collection.
I remain drawn to the seedpod, the home of the seed, with the seed itself representing the ultimate potential energy. The specific shape of each pendant was chosen to immortalize the most distilled moment of painful growth in its decomposition. From despair, we can find hope. From pain, there can be relief. From misery, we can make change, find courage, and choose love.
The seedpod pendants are a trio symbolizing hope, nourishment, and time, cast in a recycled yellow brass, then given a light polish to allow the pods' natural texture to shine.
Wear individually to celebrate your own personal growth victories, or collect as charms to commemorate a major growth milestone.
Cast in recycled yellow brass. The 24 inch 14K gold fill chain is tarnish free.
